Workforce Lead
An exciting opportunity to optimise workforce performance by bringing people, planning, and operations together.
At Intergroup, we keep New Zealand moving. As a leading industrial and infrastructure services business, we deliver the essential work that underpins our communities—maintaining critical assets, supporting industry, and ensuring the services people depend on run smoothly every day.
People and plant sit at the core of our business and we’re looking for a Workforce Lead to help us get the very best from both.
This is a pivotal role where you’ll work at the intersection of people, operations, and cost management. Sitting amongst the People and Capability team, you will be partnering closely with Payroll, Operations and Finance to ensure we have the right people in the right place at the right time.
As we evolve, we’re reshaping our workforce and you’ll play a key role in making that happen.
What you’ll be doing
Leading workforce planning across projects and teams
Aligning labour resourcing with operational needs and project timelines
Monitoring and managing labour costs against budgets
Supporting labour project management and resource allocation
Overseeing and improving timesheet processes and accuracy
Working closely with Payroll and Operations to ensure seamless workforce coordination
Managing relationships with recruitment partners to ensure access to the right mix of skillsets and the ability to scale workforce capacity up or down in line with project demands
Helping design and implement a more flexible, cross-utilised workforce model
About you
You might be:
A current Contract Manager or Operations management looking to broaden your perspective and step into a more cross-functional role, or
An experienced workforce planning professional with a strong understanding of labour optimisation
You’ll also bring:
Strong commercial and financial awareness, especially around labour cost management
The ability to balance operational demands with workforce capability
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
Confidence working across teams and influencing stakeholders
A desire to build and shape a function from the ground up
Experience working in construction or industries involving people and plant is highly desirable
Why join us?
This is a newly created role with real scope to make it your own. You’ll have the opportunity to build capability, influence how we operate, and play a central role in shaping a more agile, efficient workforce.
If you’re motivated by improving how people and operations come together—we’d love to hear from you.
