Experienced Blaster Painter – Christchurch
Put Your Skills to Work on Challenging Industrial Projects
InterGroup is seeking an experienced Blaster Painter to join our Christchurch team.
This is an opportunity to work on a variety of industrial construction, maintenance, and asset protection projects across the South Island. While based from our Christchurch blast yard, you'll spend time both in the workshop and on client sites, delivering high-quality surface preparation and protective coating solutions.

About the Role
As an Experienced Blaster Painter, you'll be responsible for abrasive blasting, surface preparation, coating application, and associated activities across a range of industrial environments.
You'll work on projects involving structural steel, industrial plant and equipment, tanks, pipelines, and other industrial assets. The role requires a strong understanding of coating systems, surface preparation standards, and quality requirements to ensure work is completed to specification.
This is a hands-on role offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to work on interesting projects both in the blast yard and on customer sites.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out abrasive blasting and surface preparation to required standards
Apply industrial protective coating systems in accordance with specifications
Inspect and prepare surfaces for coating application
Operate and maintain blasting, painting, and associated equipment
Complete work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of quality
Maintain project documentation and quality records as required
Support blast yard operations and site-based project work
Work collaboratively with clients, supervisors, and team members
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in abrasive blasting and industrial coating application
Strong understanding of surface preparation standards and coating systems
Experience working safely and effectively on construction, industrial, or maintenance sites
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
A proactive approach to health and safety
Experience with marine coatings and/or intumescent coatings highly regarded
Relevant industry qualifications and certifications advantageous
High-pressure water jetting experience advantageous
