STMS - Wellington

Vac U Digga is New Zealand’s leading hydro excavation specialist. Hydro is what we do — and after 18 years in civil construction and 10 years of specialist research and development, we’ve built a reputation for doing the job properly, safely, and efficiently.

We’re now looking for a hands-on STMS to join our field crew on active utility and civil projects, including copper cable hauling and installation support work.

You’ll be out on-site leading from the front — setting up and managing traffic control, ensuring safe work zones, and jumping in with the crew when needed. If you’re the type who knows how to keep a site compliant and isn’t afraid to get your hands dirty, this role is for you.

What you’ll be doing:

• Leading on-site traffic management (STMS responsibilities)

• Setting up and maintaining safe work sites and TMPs

• Supporting excavation and utility crews on the ground

• Assisting with copper cable hauling, pulling, and placement

• Ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to spec

• Communicating clearly with crews, contractors, and the public

What we’re looking for:

• Valid STMS qualification (minimum Level 1 or above)

• Class 4 Full Driver's License

• Experience in civil construction, utilities, or roadworks

• Strong understanding of site safety and traffic management plans

• Physically fit and willing to be hands-on

• Practical mindset — problem solver, not just paperwork focused

• Team player with solid communication skills
