HYDRO EXCAVATION OPERATOR – WELLINGTON

Vac-U-Digga is looking for a reliable Hydro Excavation Operator to join our Wellington team.

Hydro excavation uses high-pressure water and vacuum systems to safely expose underground services. You'll operate specialist hydro excavation equipment across civil construction, infrastructure and utility projects throughout the region.

This is a hands-on role combining truck operation, equipment operation and physical work on site. You don't need previous hydro excavation experience – we'll provide training for someone with the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Operating hydro excavation trucks and specialist equipment

• Using high-pressure water and vacuum systems to expose underground services

• Supporting civil construction, utility and infrastructure projects

• Setting up and packing down equipment on site

• Working alongside site crews and communicating with clients

• Completing vehicle checks, basic maintenance and job records

• Working safely around underground services, traffic and other site hazards

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Current Class 2 NZ driver licence (minimum)

• Class 4 licence is an advantage

• Heavy vehicle or machinery operating experience

• A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to learn

• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in different conditions

• Reliable, safety-conscious and able to work as part of a team

• Good communication skills and a solid work ethic

Previous hydro excavation experience isn't essential. Experience in civil construction, drainage, utilities, infrastructure or operating specialist equipment would be useful.
