Are you an experienced Blaster Painter looking for varied work, great projects, and the opportunity to work on some of New Zealand's most important infrastructure?
InterGroup is seeking a Fabric Maintenance Technician to join our Auckland team. Working across a variety of industrial, marine, and construction projects, you'll play a key role in preserving and protecting critical assets through surface preparation and protective coatings.
A significant portion of this work is carried out at Devonport Naval Base, supporting important defence infrastructure and vessels. As a result, applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain New Zealand Defence Force security clearance.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role involving abrasive blasting, protective coatings application, high-pressure water jetting, and general fabric maintenance activities across multiple sites and projects throughout Auckland.
You'll work as part of a skilled team delivering high-quality outcomes in challenging environments where safety, workmanship, and attention to detail are critical.
No two projects are the same. One week you could be working on marine assets and defence infrastructure, while the next you may be supporting industrial maintenance projects across the wider Auckland region.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out abrasive blasting and surface preparation activities
Apply industrial and protective coating systems to specification
Perform high-pressure water jetting and cleaning operations
Inspect and prepare surfaces for coating application
Operate and maintain blasting, painting, and associated equipment
Complete work safely and in accordance with client and company requirements
Maintain accurate records and quality documentation
Work across multiple sites and projects as required
What We're Looking For
Experience in abrasive blasting and industrial painting
Strong commitment to health, safety, and quality workmanship
Ability to work across a variety of industrial and marine environments
Good physical fitness and willingness to undertake hands-on work
Reliable, professional, and able to work effectively within a team
High-pressure water jetting experience highly advantageous
Industrial coatings qualifications (such as NACE, or equivalent) advantageous but not essential
Ability to obtain and maintain NZ Defence Force security clearance
