Permanent night-shift Class 2 role operating specialist vehicles and completing hands-on infrastructure work across Wellington.
NIGHT SHIFT DRIVER / OPERATOR – WELLINGTON
MORE THAN JUST DRIVING.
We’re looking for a reliable Night Shift Driver / Operator to join our Wellington Infrastructure team.
This is a hands-on role working night shift. You’ll operate compactor and sweeper trucks, complete litter and rubbish collection, and help keep Wellington’s streets and public spaces clean overnight.
It’s not a sit-in-the-cab job. You’ll be out of the truck completing hands-on work, checking your vehicle and keeping your route moving.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Operating compactor and sweeper trucks
Collecting litter, rubbish and debris across Wellington
Completing pre-starts and vehicle checks
Working independently across assigned routes
Getting out of the vehicle to complete manual and operational tasks
Keeping vehicles and equipment clean and tidy
Working safely around traffic, pedestrians and the public
Completing basic job records and reporting any issues
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Current Class 2 NZ driver licence
Experience driving heavy vehicles, with specialist equipment experience an advantage
Reliable and comfortable working independently
Physically fit and happy working outdoors in all weather
Comfortable working permanent night shifts
Good communication and a practical approach to work
Strong focus on safety and doing the job properly
